How did you start your career in knitwear production? Can you tell us a little more about your history in the textile industry and your personal journey to get to where you are today?
Mirella: "I started helping my mom from a very young age, my mom made hand-made fabrics to order, while studying a professional career that has nothing to do with the textile industry. The truth is, my passion for textiles was much more and I decided to leave my career and continue learning more in the textile field. I studied at a technological training center called Senati here in Peru it is very well known. I worked in many well-known textile companies here in Lima, in each of them I was able to learn a lot, I am very grateful to have found very nice people who trusted me and helped me learn more every day. I have more than 15 years working in textiles and I must say that I am still learning. I do what I like and I do not take it as a job for me it is my passion."
What are your values?
Mirella: "Justice, sincerity, respect and honesty I think are the values that characterize me the most."
What do you enjoy doing with friends and family outside of work? Favourite things to do/places to visit in Peru?
Mirella: "With friends I like to go out for coffee and talk. With my family I love to make the most of my time, I live with my parents and my son. As many times as possible we go for a walk and bicycle ride. I like to prepare desserts for my family and read. I think I'm a bit boring. Peru is a very lucky country since it is rich in archaeological sites due to our Inca culture, I know you would love to visit the temples of Chavin de Huantar and the Nevado de Huascaran. We also have wonderful places to visit from the Andes mountains to its Amazon jungle that have beautiful landscapes. I have not been able to travel to Cuzco-Machu Picchu which is considered one of the wonders of the world-I do not lose hope in doing it next year."
What is your hope for the textile industry in Peru, what would you like to see happen in the future?
Mirella: "As we already know, this situation of the pandemic has effected many sectors, including the textile sector, many textile companies have been forced to fire many people due to the decrease in heir production and the cancellation of some of their orders. I have all the confidence that this situation will soon improve. I would like our clients not to stop appreciating our quality since we are lucky to produce our own fibres. Also I want you to be sure that for us, the client is the most important thing."
